1/12/2024 0 Comments Retroarch bsnes mercury core![]() ![]() So far I don't see any problems with the modern Snes9x core. I remember the youtuber SNES Drunk highly recommends ZSNES. However I do recall it doing weird stuff on the Snes Classic's Canoe emulator if a series of audio tracks conflict in one of the earlier levels, causing the music to die altogether. The Second Reality Project Reloaded works fine on every core here on Android. The 2005 core adds weird pixel jumping at the top of the screen as well as the inauthentic and trebly audio. Core Updates FBNeo, LRMAME2003 Plus, UAE and VICE have seen the regular weekly updates/improvements. Libretro April 15 at 4:29 PM RetroArch 1.10.3 release RetroArch 1.10.3 has just been released. The SMW2+Complete hack, the very first level the message screen is black on every Snes9x core on Android. Two hacks that you need to experiment for yourself: The graphics look better but I haven't played either hack very extensively.īlock Invalid VRAM option seems to bring back some of the lesser desirable graphic glitches for these two games. This way you get the sound effects on the modern Snes9x that are more authentic than the tinny audio from Snes9x2005. These both need to be played in ZSNES, or Snes9x2005.Įven better is to use the most up to date Snes9x core, go to the core options, emulation hacks, and enable the Echo Ram Hack option as this is the only way to get these to play at all on this core. For Rom Hacks of a certain period where emulator inaccuracies were used, Snes9x2005 works great. On lower-powered devices, that's what I use. The quality difference is there, but even Snes9x is virtually identical to playing a real SNES. I wouldn't get too hung up on accuracy vs performance when it comes to these cores. It has very excellent video quality, especially the latest iteration. It's lighter weight, so on my computer I can actually enable run-ahead. Given my laptop's power I use the Balanced and Performance versions when I dabble with BSNES.Įven with those available, I highly recommend Snes9x, which is what I use all the time. There's the experimental HD version as well. Each one has 3 tiers: Accuracy, Balanced, and Performance. There's 2 broad categories of Bsnes cores I've got on my laptop, the 2014 and the Mercury. The name is because metals are shiny, like the accuracy promises of bsnes, and mercury is the fastest metal.Depending on your hardware you have a lot of good options. Examine if ST-0011 is confused by attempts to HLE it.Is the compat core's DSP identical to that of the accuracy core, but a bit faster?.SuperFX overclock is now available (off by default, of course) if enabled, it makes Star Fox look quite a lot smoother.Chips for which no HLE emulation was developed (ST-0011 and ST-0018) are still LLE. HLE emulation of some special chips is optionally restored (defaults to LLE), to improve performance and reduce reliance on those chip ROMs (they're not really easy to find). This speeds up ROM load time by about a third. A section in sfc/memory/memory.cpp was specialized for the common, easy, case.(This change was developed for upstream, and the author of higan was mostly positive it is likely to appear in bsnes v095.) A seven-line function in sfc/memory/memory-inline.hpp was replaced, which speeds up ROM load by roughly a factor 6 (1.2s -> 0.2s).libco has been changed quite a bit, both for performance, readability, and portability to more platforms.I use Bsnes/Higan for testing and comparison, but Snes9x is more than good enough for playing practically all popular and less popular games. A fast path was added to various parts of the CPU bus, improving framerate by about 2.5%. I keep both bsnes- (mercury)-accuracy and Snes9X cores in retroarch but use Snes9x for gaming because it seems to run smoother and smoothness is a big factor for me for accurate emulation.Framerate went up by 20% from such a trivial change! (Spamming inline elsewhere does little if anything, so it wasn't done.) 'inline' was added all across the PPU subclasses. The biggest change is getting the interface sane, which is accomplished through libretro.Maximum accuracy is still uncompromisable anything that affects accuracy is optional and off by default. Retroboy 3B+ DIY gameboy runs alright with Bsnes-mercury-performance but its. Bsnes-mercury is a fork of higan, aiming to restore some useful features that have been removed, as well as improving performance a bit.
